Giorgio has been the topic of conversation in some circles around me ever since Daft Punk released their latest creation: Random Access Memories.  Mainly because of his very long and superbly influential discography, but more so because a simple comment made on the album:

once you free your mind about a concept of harmony and music being correct, you can do whatever you want.”

For a long time I searched for the Golden Octave of music, a sonic equivalent to the Golden Ratio found in art an also referred to as the: Golden Rectangle, which are the mathematical formulas that can make things perfect to humans.  They say that almost every single one of the world’s most famous paintings fall in line with the Golden Rectangle; not the actual art, but the actual canvasses.  Anyway, long story short, I researched high and low for the Golden Octave until one day I found it.  But then what?  What good is it to uniform music if it will create a perfect redundancy in the long run?

Giovanni “Giorgio” Moroder is credited with being the first to use a vocoder in the recording of an album, paving the way for many of even todays top hits and artists alike.  He is also a major key component in the evolution of electronic music period.  Back in 1977 Giorgio released From Here To Eternity, an album of disco hits produced entirely with a synthesizer changing the path of music, and directing its future towards EDM greatness.  It is a masterpiece of sound that has influenced House Music producers, Trance, and several genres for decades until the present.

Insert Aeroplane here in this day and age, record label MB Disco decided to piece together a crafty EP of Remixes by some of our eras best remixers, giving them a no holds barred go at interpreting a disco legends work.  Within this roster of sonic alchemists we find Aeroplane‘s work to be top notch.  The added bounce and heavy percussion alongside a nicely lit cowbell that sits on the opposite side of the spectrum give the remix a life all of its very own.

This Aeroplane Remix manages to maintain an authentically classic disco essence to it, while simultaneously showing off a youthful Space Age twist that keeps us moving the entire way through.  The equivalent of Thomas Anderson vs. Morpheus in Kung Fu…

“only electronic keyboards were used in the making of this album.”
